Who are we?

Unity Academy Blackpool is an all-through 4-16 sponsored Academy, which opened as a new Academy in September 2013 building on the work of the predecessor school, Unity College. The Academy’s sponsor is FCAT, the Fylde Coast Academy Trust, a growing and developing Multi Academy Trust which is committed to “promoting excellence in teaching, learning and leadership”. You would be joining the ‘family of schools’ within FCAT which will provide outstanding opportunities for future professional growth and potential promotion. Furthermore, the Academy is also part of the Fylde Coast Teaching School which delivers high quality courses on teaching and leadership as well as the opportunity for colleagues to network and share good practice to improve opportunities for young people across the region.

Most recently, we have undergone a huge investment into our school facilities, resulting in the provision of brand new, purpose built facilities for all primary year groups and the complete transformation of our secondary provision, resulting in giving us outstanding teaching and learning facilities across the whole school. The key focus for us all within the Academy is to raise standards, and in particular those of external performance measures. Our first five years have been very successful and we are currently Blackpool’s highest performing secondary in terms of progress measures.  Our Ofsted inspection in October 2017 judged us to be Good in all areas.  We are determined to build upon this further and are looking to appoint like-minded professionals to continue our journey of improvement.
